How to Read a JEE Advanced Problem Before You Solve It
Most JEE Advanced students lose marks not because they cannot solve problems, but because they misread them.
When a student sits down with a problem, their instinct is to start solving immediately. Scan, recognize, attack. This works for easy problems. It fails for JEE Advanced.
Step 1: Read the problem twice before starting. Not once. Twice. First read for the big picture. Second read for the details and constraints.
Step 2: Circle or highlight every quantified word. "At least", "exactly", "more than", "less than", "maximum", "minimum", "all", "some", "none", "necessarily", "possibly". These words control the solution.
Step 3: Identify what exactly is being asked. Students often solve the problem but answer the wrong question.
Mathematics at the JEE Advanced level is not about being faster. It is about reading slower.
